The new currency in Lithuania brought by Ortima trucks
2014 November 12
Wednesday – November 12 – Ortima DAF XF trucks brought into Lithuania the third euro banknote shipment. Careful preparations ensured the successful completion of this operation, in which the huge load of cash money has been transported to the Lithuanian bank. Police and special force armored vehicles including helicopters accompanied the trucks and were met with great public and media attention.
It should be noted that the strategically important cargo transportation was accomplished by freight company Ortima which provides professional and responsible road logistic service for more than twenty years. Additional means to provide safe and reliable money transportation was taken from their side including the standby-trucks in case of technical failures, etc.
114 tons of cash money were packed on pallets and loaded into six trailers. 136 million euro banknotes came to Lithuania from the German Bundesbank. They were flown by Lufthansa Cargo aircraft McDonnell Douglas MD-11F.
